Level B1 Intermediate English Reading Practice: Moving Day!
Frank and Tina have bought their first house. It's in a suburban neighbourhood outside the city, and they're moving there in two days. Right now, Frank is packing up his books and Tina is packing up her clothes. They both feel a little anxious because they own a lot of stuff and they still have a lot of work to do before the moving trucks arrive.
To prepare for the big day, Frank has thrown out a lot of old documents, clothes, and shoes. Tina has gotten rid of a lot of old electronics from her home office, including old laptops, phones, and cables—she took them to the recycling centre a week ago. Frank and Tina want to start fresh in their new home, so they don't want to bring anything they're not going to use.
The move wasn't an easy decision because Frank and Tina are going to have a harder time financially. Luckily, Frank just got a promotion at work, and Tina already makes good money, so if they budget well, they should be okay.
The real reason for the move? Tina is two and a half months pregnant! With that in mind, she and Frank wanted a lot more space than their one-bedroom apartment currently has. In comparison, their new house is just right. It has three bedrooms on the main floor, and there's an extra room in the basement. Frank and Tina aren't sure what they'll use that room for yet, but they're happy to have the extra space, and they're looking forward to unpacking and starting the next chapter of their life together.
