B1 English Listening: News and Weather Report
Hello. You're listening to ABC Radio. This is your local news update. I'm Henry Hastings.
Our top story today: The local election is just two weeks away. The current city mayor, Linda Ripley, is losing support after allegations of illegal activity. These allegations were made by her opponent, Travis Glenn. Glenn says that mayor Ripley is involved in illegal gambling, and he says he can prove it. This is more bad news for mayor Ripley. How will this affect the election? We will find out in two weeks.
In other news, the police are asking for help. They are looking for the owner of a silver truck. This truck was involved in a hit-and-run accident on the weekend. The accident happened on the corner of First Street and Jackson. A pedestrian was crossing the street when the truck turned and hit them. The truck broke the pedestrian's left leg then drove away. The pedestrian, who does not want to be named, said the truck driver was on his phone. The victim is recovering in the hospital. Please contact the police if you have seen a silver truck with a sticker on the back that says "I love Tina."
Finally, the weather report. It's a beautiful morning, but the sun won't last. Make sure you have your umbrella because we expect heavy rain in the middle of the afternoon. The rest of the week looks great with lots of sun and temperatures in the low twenties. These conditions are perfect for the outdoor concert at Elizabeth Park this Thursday. We hope to see you there!
