Transcript

B1 English Listening: Weekend Plans

Person A: So, are you doing anything this weekend?

Person B: Yes, actually. It's my son's birthday, so my parents are coming over for dinner on Saturday.

Person A: Oh, nice. Happy birthday to your son! How old is he turning?

Person B: He'll be four. His actual birthday is on Sunday, but it's just easier to have a family party on Saturday.

Person A: And do your parents visit you often?

Person B: Not really. We usually go to their house on the weekend because they have a bigger place than we do.

Person A: That makes sense.

Person B: Yeah. How about you? Any plans this weekend?

Person A: Yeah. I'm going to watch a soccer game on Saturday morning.

Person B: Oh, nice! How much were tickets?

Person A: Oh, sorry. I wasn't clear. I'm going to watch the game on TV at a pub, not at the stadium. I'm just going to pay for my breakfast.

Person B: That's cool. Who's going with you?

Person A: One of my friends. We used to be on a soccer team in high school. We've always loved the game.

Person B: Nice. And do you have any other plans?

Person A: Just the usual. You know—buy groceries, clean the apartment. Maybe I'll catch a movie on Sunday afternoon.

Person B: Well, if you're looking for someone to go with, I'm free on Sunday.

Person A: Sure. I'll keep you posted.
