A2 English Listening: Breakfast with Dad
Dad: Good morning, Mike. You look tired. Did you sleep well last night?
Mike: Not really. I went to bed after midnight, and I couldn't fall asleep.
Dad: Why did you go to bed so late?
Mike: I had to study for a physics test.
Dad: Ah. And why couldn't you fall asleep?
Mike: You didn't hear it? There was a big thunderstorm in the middle of the night.
Dad: No, I didn't hear it. I actually love the sound of rain at night.
Mike: Lucky you.
Dad: Yeah. So, what do you want for breakfast? Eggs? Cereal? A sandwich? I can make it for you.
Mike: Eggs, please. And a coffee.
Dad: Eggs and coffee coming right up. You just sit and relax.
Mike: Thanks, Dad. Hey, why aren't you wearing your work clothes?
Dad: I have a doctor's appointment this morning, and then I have to take the car to the mechanic.
Mike: Sounds like a busy day.
Dad: Yes, but I will be okay. And you will, too.
Mike: Yeah, yeah. I know.
