Maya's birthday was last Saturday. She turned thirty, so her friends organized a surprise party at her parents' house. Forty people came to celebrate. The house was full!


The guests arrived an hour before Maya. Everyone brought something to eat or drink. Maya's mom is a fantastic baker, so she made a delicious birthday cake. Maya's dad loves to barbecue, so he made some burgers and hot dogs on the grill. Everyone else brought extra food, drinks, and desserts. There were two tables full of food!


Maya arrived at one o'clock. When she opened the front door, everyone shouted "Surprise!" Maya was so surprised that she cried. Her friends and family hugged her. Maya said, "I don't believe it!" Then, the party started.


At the party, everyone ate, drank, and laughed a lot. They also watched a basketball game on TV. Maya's favourite team won! What a nice birthday gift!
